Accomodation and Transportation

Accomodation

Lodz has a variety of hotels but the closest to the conference venue are:

• Iness Hotel (offering reduced conference fee of 250 PLN (56 Euro) for a single and 350PLN (79 Euro) for a double room with breakfast) - distance to campus 1.1 km. Discount code: DSA06LD
• Qubus Hotel - distance to campus 1.7 km
• Hotel Focus (2 km to conference site)

Because of some parallel events at Politechnika at the same time the hotels are filling up quickly, so we recommend to do reservation as soon as possible. There are also numerous small apart-hotels, some of them quite stylish in the old, renovated buildings, particularly along Piotrkowska Street, which can be found on booking.com.

Transport

Airports. The closest international airport is the Warsaw Chopin Airport (WAW). A smaller Lodz Wladyslaw Reymont Airport (LCJ) handles flights from limited destinations. However, if it serves yours, it is an excellent connection since you will have 10 minutes ride by taxi to the hotel and the conference site.

Airport Transfer Warsaw-Lodz

If your plane lands in Warsaw Chopin Airport you have several transportation options:

• Bus by the international company Flixbus is an excellent option since it leaves directly from Chopin Airport (follow the Bus sign to the outdoor bus terminal). Unfortunately it operates only in the morning and in the late afternoon/evening hours. For exact schedule see below. Tickets have to purchased online before the ride.
• Train. There are frequent fast trains (1.5 hour) between station Warszawa Zachodnia and Lodz Fabryczna (see details). Keep in mind that there will be change of schedule on June 8, so wait until it with purchasing.
  To reach Warszawa Zachodnia station from the airport you have about 10-15 minutes ride by taxi depending on the traffic (cost under 10 Euro).
• Shared Taxi. The cost of the taxi ride directly from the Chopin airport to the hotel in Lodz is 170 Euro. It is the most comfortable option but relatively expensive. However if you are interested in it please send your flight information to one of our organizers, Igor Kossowski at igor.kossowski@p.lodz.pl and he will try to match you with some other participants landing at a similar time. If some groups like this develop, we will have another member of our committee present at the airport to team participants into groups for the shared taxi rides.

Taxis in Lodz

Once at the train station Lodz Fabryczna you have 10-15 minutes ride to the hotel/conference site (under 10 Euro). If your train will take you to Lodz Kaliska.

There will be taxis standing in front of the train station. Of course if you have Uber application, it is always an option.

Public transport

A 20-minute ticket costs PLN 4.40. Tickets can be purchased from ticket machines on buses and trams. Ticket machines accept cards but not cash. Due to road construction in the center of Lodz, the ticket duration is extended to 40 minutes and allows for travel with possible transfers. Drivers do not always open the doors, especially at on-demand stops, unless you press the button just before your stop.
